About University of Queensland Union (UQU)
UQU has been the heart of student life since our founding, led by students, for students. What began as a collective of passionate individuals has grown into a dynamic organisation representing more than 60,000 students across UQ's campuses.
We're the spark behind campus's most unforgettable moments, festivals, advocacy campaigns, clubs and societies, and we're there when students need us most, through free meals and Student Advocacy & Support services that look after their wellbeing.
Every club we support, every voice we amplify, every event we bring to life, we do it to empower students to get the most from their university journey.
We're a team of organisers, campaigners, advocates, and community-builders working collaboratively to back students every step of the way, empowering them to lead our strategic direction based on what students care about. We take our work seriously, and thousands of students rely on us every day.
About the role
Are you the person who makes a plan actually work? Do you want work that makes a real difference to students’ lives?
At UQU, our engagement and welfare programs are student-led. The Student Executives decide what runs and own the budgets, and you’ll be the person who brings those decisions to life.
Reporting to the Head of Student Engagement & Activities, you’ll turn the Student Executives’ priorities into detailed delivery plans covering timelines, resourcing, volunteers and spend, then take responsibility for running them day to day. You’ll coordinate welfare initiatives and campaigns on student wellbeing and cost-of-living pressures, deliver welfare events such as Student Exam Support (SES), and oversee our Kampus Kitchen spaces so they’re clean, safe, well-stocked and meeting food safety requirements.
You’ll supervise our casual Student Engagement Admin Officers, coordinate the volunteers who help make our programs happen, and use data to show what’s working and where students need more support. As the coordination point between elected student representatives and our operational teams, you’ll guide and advise student leaders so their decisions become well-structured, deliverable programs, and bring forward new ideas when you spot emerging student needs.
You’ll be successful in this role if you’re organised and practical, comfortable working alongside elected student leaders and genuinely care about student wellbeing.

Inclusion, diversity & culture
We believe great teams are built on genuine belonging, where people bring their full selves to work and feel respected, protected and valued for who they are, whatever their background. If you need adjustments to do your best work, just talk to your manager. Inclusion here is practical, not performative. Our values (Integrity, Respect, Inclusivity, Creativity, Openness, and Accountability to students) are the foundation of how we operate, treat each other and make our decisions.
Even if you don’t tick every box, we’d still love to hear from you. Tell us about the skills and experience you’d bring.
